I start by doing analysis of the brief and understanding it. I Clarify the intent of the brief and get specifications from the client.
I note deadlines and create reasonable aims for within the timescale. I Create a ghantt chart that reflects this and that can be altered when reviewed throughout the project. When working within a team I would delegate tasks and roles according to strengths and ability. I then Note any tasks or parts that are likely to be outsourced and allow plenty of time for this.
I mind map how I will research and what areas need covered. I Plan and execute methods such as Interviews, questionnaires, and cultural probes. I the Gather insights and define facts.
I use the insights to explore solutions. Sketch ideas that are linked to the insights. When ideas have been exhausted I would Justify the validity of each idea in order to reduce the number of ideas . At this stage I would produce detailed design sketches and information to bring to the client.
Taking into consideration the clients decisions, budget and the brief I can then select an idea to take forward. Service journeys and story-boarding are used to determine any potential problems. Once this decision has been made I redesign the concept. Detailed specifications will be documented and calculated.
I prototype the concept in great detail considering every eventuality. At this stage material, budget and technology are considetered.
I take prototypes to user groups and clients to analyse the interaction and to determine the functionality of the product. I will Make amendments where necessary.
I review the drawings and create final sketches and CAD drawings that can be used to make the product or to send away to get the product made ensuring budgets and deadlines are met efficiently.
I collect documentation and decisions regarding the final product and document them in a clear way to refer to when presenting to client. I Document my process for the client to review and to ensure transparency. I would then Consider marketing of the product and create press releases, videos and hero images. Prepare and execute presentation.
I reflect on the process and end result in order to learn from mistakes or locate problem areas Note things that worked well and systems used in process for later reference.
